And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.
Behold, ye have called me your king; and if I, whom ye call your king, do labor to serve you, then ought not ye to labor to serve one another?
And behold also, if I, whom ye call your king, who has spent his days in your service, and yet has been in the service of God, do merit any thanks from you, O how you ought to thank your Heavenly King!
Mosiah 2:17-19
Jesus is the King of Kings! He has called us to serve one another. We thank him and honor him through acts of loving service. He is the King of Kings who served all of humanity through his atoning sacrifice. There is no one who has served more than him. He is the greatest example of loving service. Jesus continues to love and serve us. He has wonderful miracles and acts of service still in store for us including a glorious resurrection and the unification of the human family. His peace is also available to us now if we reach out to him. If we are to follow him and his example, we must serve others. King Benjamin taught his people that to love others is to love God. When we serve others we serve God. We are called to feed the hungry, visit the lonely, care for those in need of care, turn the other cheek, and love those who are in need of love. We are called to serve and spread love to those in our circle and then expand our circle. Through Christ’s miracle of empowering grace, our capacity to serve and love will eventually grow with time and practice. Through love, Jesus will sanctify and transform us into divine beings of love. He will unite humanity in peace. He won’t stop loving and serving until we all like the prodigal son have returned home. Even then, it will be just a beginning of his endless, eternal, and infinite love.
