“…I have seen my Redeemer; and he shall come forth, and be born of a woman, and he shall redeem all mankind who believe on his name…” Alma 19:13

“But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” Galatians 4:4-5

Jehovah descended, took on flesh, was born, and lived on earth. 600 years before Christ’s birth, Nephi had a vision of his birth. Nephi marveled that God would descend and was taught by an angel about the condescension of God. During the vision, he saw the tree of life represented by Mary with the baby Jesus in her arms. (See 1 Nephi 1:11) The idea that God who created the heavens and the earth would descend and humble himself to a helpless baby utterly dependent on another for every need is truly a sobering thought. The idea that God took on flesh and was born into humanity is truly radical. The Creator of the world humbled himself to live with us and then die for us because of love. This miracle of grace beyond comprehension has caused billions to ponder in awe.
