God Who Gave Them Breath

Wherefore, He has given a law; and where there is no law given there is no punishment; and where there is no punishment there is no condemnation; and where there is no condemnation the mercies of the Holy One of Israel have claim upon them, because of the atonement [Jesus]; for they are delivered by the power of Him.

For the atonement [Jesus] satisfieth the demands of His justice upon all those who have not the law given to them, that they are delivered from that awful monster, death and hell, and the devil, and the lake of fire and brimstone, which is endless torment; and they are restored to that God who gave them breath, which is the Holy One of Israel.

2 Nephi 9:25-26

Now, concerning the state of the soul between death and the resurrection—Behold, it has been made known unto me by an angel, that the spirits of all men, as soon as they are departed from this mortal body, yea, the spirits of all men, whether they be good or evil, are taken home to that God who gave them life.

Alma 40:11

All little children are innocent before Jesus and His mercies have claim on them. They are not under condemnation. Jesus, the Holy One of Israel satisfies the demands of justice and little children are received into a great at-one-ment with Him. Theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus created all of humanity and breathed life into each of us. At the end of our lives we will all eventually return to that God who gave us breath to review our lives in his presence. We will return to the Word of Life who spoke and called us into being. We will return to our Mighty Savior who delivers us. We will return to Jesus, the Source of Life. Then sometime later, like Lazarus, He will again call us back to life in an immortal and glorious resurrection.
