Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and thieves break through and steal; But lay up for yourselves Treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where Your Treasure is, there will Your Heart be also. 3 Nephi 12:19-21
Jesus is your treasure and your treasure keeper. He taught that the great commandments are to love God and each other. Our treasure is our relationships with God and each other. We can improve our relationships by following his example of loving others to include loving and forgiving our enemies. Through Jesus we will keep our relationships after this life. Jesus asks us to lay up treasures in heaven by serving and loving each other. By serving and loving others, our natures are changed as we transform and grow as children of Christ. The defining characteristic of divinity is love. Jesus invites us to lay up treasures of loving relationships in Him and each other that will endure forever through his grace.
